The Land Transportation Office said it would issue driver's licenses valid for 10 years to motorists with clean records starting Thursday.
In accordance with Republic Act 10930, those applying for renewal at the Central Office-Licensing Section in the Quezon City Licensing Center can get a license valid for a decade as long as they have no traffic violations.
Those with traffic violations can still apply for licenses valid for only five years.
Other LTO offices in the National Capital regions will follow starting Nov. 3.
"Ang lahat ng magrerenew ay kailangang dumaan sa Comprehensive Driver's Education (CDE) upang matanggap nila ang kanilang CDE Certificate," the LTO said.
The CDE materials may be accessed via the LTO portal, LTO offices, and LTO-accredited driving schools. "Libre ang pagsailalim sa CDE sa mga LTO Driver's Education Centers at sa LTO Portal," the LTO added.
Motorists outside of Metro Manila are advised to wait for updates regarding licenses with extended validity.
