Heart Evangelista Reveals She's Not "Crazy Rich" and She Spends Her Own Hard-Earned Money

Given her status as an international fashion figure and all-around glam darling, Heart Evangelista has long faced scrutiny with regards to her shopping. The most pointed accusation of all? That she spends the money of her husband, Sorsogon governor Chiz Escudero, for her fashion-related splurges.

Appearing alongside Chiz in a recent interview with Karen Davila, Heart finally busted those myths. The answer: No, she does not spend his money. Rather, she's self-sufficient, and handles her hard-earned resources wisely.

"When people say he spends for me, no, not at all. I make my own," she said. "And let me make it clear: I'm not crazy rich! I'm not– it's just that I've been working for a long time so meron din akong sarili ko. For me also, I wanted din also for him to feel na hindi ko rin siya gagamitin. Plus he has also two kids. Gusto ko rin na ma-appreciate ng kids niya that they'll also be protected."

"In any case, kung ano man ang mangyari, what is mine is theirs too," she said. She also shared that she sets aside jewelry for Chiz's 14-year-old daughter, Chesi, to use in the future.

Heart admitted they clashed on money matters during the start of their marriage. She recalled how Chiz, who is not a big shopper, would quip "Ilang bibig na napakain mo diyan!" when she would purchase designer shoes. This led her to actually hide some of her purchases from him!

"Kasi we're so different. My parents also– they like to shop. If you do something na maganda, they would reward you with something nice. Yun yung language of love ko din. Even for me, I like to gift him with stuff. Pero siya, I don't get the reaction I want, so it pisses me off, diba!" Heart said.

"In the beginning, dun kami nagbabanggaan."

The couple also divulged that they have a prenuptial agreement, which grants them independence with regards to their respective earnings. This was endorsed to them by the late Miriam Santiago, whom Heart considers a second mother.

"Under the law, we have a prenup," said Chiz. "It governs our married relationship—it means whatever she earns is hers, and whatever I earn is mine. But when one passes, we will be inheriting from each other."

Heart then shared that she earns her keep from endorsements, brand deals, Instagram posts, and her YouTube channel.

We definitely learned a thing or two about managing finances from the happy couple!
